Fees

Fees

Fees are not a one size fits all at Joel M. Fremstad P.C. Fee options include the traditional hourly charge, but also include fixed retainers, contingency based fees, and blends of each and we encourage our clients to engage us on the question of fees.

The hourly fee is a staple of law practice but is itself a bit of an enigma. By definition the attorney gets paid more the longer something takes. Viewed from the client perspective, a dangerous cost benefit analysis occurs when the client anticipates costs rather than weighing the importance of the review.

A proactive approach under Fremstad Law’s OGC, Outside General Counsel Program, solves such dilemmas. We focus on your anticipated and actual needs to set a monthly retainer fee with you; it may even be that the retainer is the equivalent of one hour per month. There is no requirement for a long-term contract and the retainer can be reviewed as often as needed.

When you have a legal project we do our best to estimate the fees and work with you on payment arrangements. For example, when collecting your receivables it can be hard to justify hiring an attorney when you don’t know if the same will ever be collected. At Fremstad Law we will look at the nature of your accounts and discuss fee options that may include doing all of your collection work for a fixed monthly fee plus court costs or may include doing certain cases on an hourly bases with the more difficult collectibles done on a contingency basis.
