Fremstad Law Firm was started by Joel Fremstad more than 15 years ago after he had left the same law firm twice, had tried an in-house counsel gig, and was looking to find a better way to circle the Earth.  Fremstad Law now has 6 attorneys and a team of dedicated paralegals covering everything from transactional, to litigation, to family law, and everything in between.

At Fremstad Law, our mission is to move our clients forward and our focus has been on transforming the client and attorney experience.  This unique approach is based on our core values and requires motivated attorneys who are interested in a different way to practice law.

Presently, Fremstad Law is looking for attorneys to provide transactional legal assistance in the areas of business formation and estate planning/probate that would work closely with our founder Joel Fremstad.  We are also looking for additional litigation attorneys to work with our existing litigation team while also growing our probate and guardianship litigation practices.  While experience is a plus, if you are detail orientated and a self-starter, let's talk!

We are not a traditional law firm.  Attorneys have come to Fremstad Law from large firms, government positions, and solo practice.  When you join Fremstad Law, you’ll find a team-based culture.  Our attorneys are encouraged to practice in a way that helps them maintain a work-life balance which suits them.  While some of our attorneys choose to work more because of the greater earnings potential, some of our attorneys choose to work less or at least in more flexible ways.  There is the freedom to do either.  Our system also allows attorneys to have families, pursue pro bono work, be on non-profit boards, have side gigs, or teach their kids’ teams among other things.  We believe this approach has not only created dedicated attorneys all of whom have gone on to earn Super Lawyers or Rising Star designations, but it has also proven to increase satisfaction for our clients who have voted us Best Law Firm in the Best of the Red River Valley five times, including for 2024.
