Attorney Teigland Successfully Settles Legal Malpractice Lawsuit

Attorney James Teigland recently settled a North Dakota legal malpractice lawsuit on behalf of a plaintiff. The plaintiff hired a North Dakota attorney to represent them in their divorce. The attorney made a mistake by not preparing a qualified domestic relations order (“QDRO”), which resulted in the plaintiff being unable to obtain certain retirement and life insurance benefits.

Teigland commenced a lawsuit on behalf of the plaintiff and the case recently settled in a confidential settlement agreement. While in law school, Teigland spent a year working for a legal malpractice attorney in Minneapolis.
