Lesley Foss
In her family law focused practice, Lesley is committed and dedicated to helping her clients through what can be one of the more challenging times in their lives. From the initial interview and client intake process through the final stages of any family law proceeding, Lesley’s knowledge and experience assists clients through these difficulties.
Experience and Values
Lesley is passionate about helping her clients to navigate the difficulties inherent in any family law proceeding and to achieve the best possible outcome for her clients. She graduated with distinction from the University of North Dakota School of Law and served as Managing Editor for the North Dakota Law Review. She had a case comment published in the North Dakota Law Review (82 N.D. L. Rev. 1 (2005)), which was awarded the Outstanding Note or Case Comment Award from the North Dakota Bar Foundation. She graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor’s Degree from the Walsh School of Foreign Service, majoring in Foreign Policy & Policy Process.
Practice Areas and Skills
Lesley focuses her legal practice almost exclusively in family law, and represents clients through all stages, aspects, and phases of family law proceedings, including divorce, custody, post-judgment modification or enforcement proceedings, parenting time disputes, prenuptial agreements, child support, guardianships, and name changes. Lesley is also a trained guardian ad litem, is a parenting investigator in North Dakota, and is a qualified neutral mediator in family law proceedings and offers family law mediation services as part of her practice.
What Makes Lesley the Attorney She is Today
Lesley began her legal career as a trial court law clerk for Judge Michael Kraker and Judge Tamra Yon in Minnesota’s 9th Judicial District. Lesley also was in private practice focusing on family law and personal injury. Before joining Fremstad Law, she represented the State of North Dakota at the Fargo Regional Child Support Unit, where she was responsible for all aspects of paternity, child support, and medical support legal actions and where she gained valuable courtroom experience.
Prior to law school, Lesley worked as a paralegal for a major corporate immigration law firm and as a paralegal for the head attorney at Paramount Pictures’ International Television division in Los Angeles, California.
Community Involvement
Lesley volunteers as a Georgetown University Alumni Admissions Program interviewer for prospective Georgetown Students. Lesley is involved and active in the North Dakota Quarter Horse Association and the Fargo Moorhead Mounted Posse horse show group.
Things You May Be Interested in Knowing About Lesley
Lesley grew up on a small grain farm near Devils Lake, North Dakota. She enjoys riding and showing American Quarter Horses and/or American Paint Horses. She currently has an AQHA registered horse named Simon. Lesley has one son, and enjoys reading, traveling, teaching herself new skills on Photoshop, and spending time with her son, siblings, and extended family.
